This article examines lessons learnt from countering militant groups in Africa, with a focus on Kenya's adoption of the National Strategy for Countering Violent Extremism (NSCVE) in 2016. It discusses the importance of community-oriented policing approaches, the Nyumba Kumi model, and the development of County Action Plans (CAPs) and County Engagement Forums (CEFs). The article highlights the shift from purely security-driven responses to multi-stakeholder, partnership-led approaches.
