Summary
The focus of international and national strategies for countering terrorism in the past decade has shifted from using hard security measures alone to combat terrorism, to a more multi-sectoral, comprehensive and preventive approach to terrorism and violent extremism. More countries are developing counter-terrorism policies that include this emphasis on preventing terrorism and violent extremism by reducing the drivers for support of violent extremist groups and ideologies.
