Building Resilience through Youth and Civil Society Engagement to Prevent Violent Extremism

Summary
UNODC presentation on resilience-building in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin. Highlights the STRIVE Juvenile initiative which trained Youth Peace Champions (ages 18-30) from Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states in art, animation, social media content, mediation, and advocacy. These champions established peace clubs, inter-generational dialogues, and radio segments. UNODC's Youth-Led Action initiative and sports-based prevention ("Line Up Live Up") are also discussed. The presentation notes the Mourchidate model from North Africa adapted in Mauritania.
